EcoKnit - Used for our Fabric PopUps, our EcoKnit Fabric contains 59% recycled post-industrial and post-consumer waste, mostly recycled plastic bottles. This material conserves natural resources by reducing energy consumption and conserving petroleum resources. Using EcoKnit for a 4x3 PopUp with endcaps conserves about 122,000 BTUs of energy or the equivalent of 1 gallon of gas.
Printing - At the beginning of 2008, PosterGarden switched from a more standard printing method to a leading-edge UV curable printing process. With a brand new Vutek QS2000 UV Flatbed and Roll to Roll printer, we not only upped the quality and brilliance of our graphics, but the new printing process, which uses UV light to instantly cure water-based inks, produces lower levels of volatile organic compounds. In addition, we print our fabric graphics with a dye-sublimation process that uses water-based inks. These inks not only produce lower levels of VOCs, but when paired with a recycled material like EcoKnit, they create a product that is certifiably green.
Shipping - To help offset some carbon emissions, we ship some of our inbound freight using a company called EA Logistics. The company offsets the CO2 emissions created during transport, essentially producing carbon-neutral freight.
